Following on the success of the inaugural Scotland and Northern England Workshop in Applied Microeconomics (InSaNE), the second annual Scotland and Northern England Conferences in Applied Microeconomics (TwoSaNE) will be held at the beautiful Crieff Hydro Hotel on 2-3 May 2023.  Presenters should be affiliated with a Scottish or northern English university.  

Professor Erik Plug (University of Amsterdam) will deliver the keynote, entitled “The Only Child”.

Professor Nils Braakmann (Newcastle University), Professor Lindsey Macmillan (University College London), and Professor David A. Jaeger (University of St Andrews) form the programme committee.

Papers from all areas of applied microeconomics are welcome. Completed papers will be preferred over extended abstracts.

To submit a paper, click here. The submission deadline is 23:59 on Wednesday, 15 February.  Decisions on submissions will be announced by 1 March.

The conference will run from 11 am on 2 May to 2 pm on 3 May and include lunches on both days, dinner on 2 May, and breakfast on 3 May.

Conference fees are £400, all inclusive, for full professors, non-presenting coauthors, and those able to pay from their own university research budgets. A subsidized rate of £200 is available for presenters below the rank of full professor who are unable to pay from their own university funds. An honor system applies.

Accommodation is for sole occupancy of a standard double room. Additional guests may be added for a fee of £10 (including breakfast on 3 May). For those who want more time to enjoy Crieff Hydro, it will be possible to reserve a room for Saturday, 30 April and/or Sunday 1, May at Crieff Hydro at the conference rate of £200 sole-occupancy or £210 double-occupancy per night.
